The Saint Benedict Center and the Mission House both contain the design hallmarks of the brutalist style of architecture. While remaining respectful of the original design intent, the new exhibits are taking advantage of opportunities to bring a brighter tone to the visitor experience. Gallery spaces capitalize on opportunities for natural light and will add additional light and color through illuminated graphic elements and glass walls that incorporate images and graphic text. These design elements use to visually and thematically link the exhibit spaces in both buildings to create a seamless visitor experience. In addition, comfortable furniture softens the St. John’s Bible gallery to create the quiet, contemplative space that has been requested.
