Situated in the heart of Cedar Rapids, the History Center (THC) preserves and shares the stories of Linn County’s past, connecting people to the present and future of the region in the process. THC actively engages the community in exploring this history through exhibitions, research, and diverse programming—from walking tours to preschool classes.
New exhibits are active and encourage participation. Hands-on interactives attract children and adults and encourage them to try their hand at historical activities, building fun memories and connections to the past. Rather than rely heavily on text, the exhibits convey the interpretive message through activities, objects, maps, and images. Iconic and evocative artifacts from THC’s collections populate the exhibits, providing authentic experiences for visitors in the digital age.
